Optional stable hostname

Remote control works with the radio's LAN IP. A hostname is optional. This recipe builds troglobit/mdnsd at the pinned revision in network/build.sh, using Zig 0.14.1 on a modern computer. No executable is bundled in the public preview.

Run sh network/build.sh with Zig available. Keep network/THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt with any resulting distribution. Transfer network/indie-mdnsd to /usr/sbin/indie-mdnsd on your own radio and make it executable. Back up existing network/startup files first.

Create /etc/mdns.d/indie-radio.service with:

name Squeeze Radio
type _indieradio._tcp
port 8770
txt version=1

Do not copy another radio's hardware ID. In your existing /etc/init.d/rcS.local, add a single startup invocation (preserve other content):

/usr/sbin/indie-mdnsd -H indie-radio -i eth1 -t 255 \
    -p /var/run/indie-mdnsd.pid /etc/mdns.d/indie-radio.service

eth1 was the tested Radio's Wi-Fi interface; inspect your device and adapt it for Ethernet or a different interface. Preserve the executable mode of the startup file. Reboot normally, then resolve indie-radio.local from another device on the same LAN. The daemon tracks DHCP/interface changes. For multiple radios, give each a different hostname and service name.

This recipe does not require a static IP or a continuously running computer. It has been used on the original radio; the public package's full installation flow still needs clean-device validation.
